DALLAS (AP) - A lawyer for Dirk Nowitzki says he doubts a woman's claim that she is pregnant with the Dallas Mavericks star's baby.
37-year-old Christa Ann Taylor told The Dallas Morning News in an interview from jail this week that Nowitzki was her fiance. Taylor also says she learned of her pregnancy after being arrested at Nowitzki's house.
Taylor was arrested on violating probation and theft of services warrants.
Nowitzki's Dallas lawyer, Robert Hart, said quote: "If in the remote instance there is any validity to this woman's claim of pregnancy, Dirk will do whatever can be done to ensure the well being of the child."
His statement was released to ESPN.com on Thursday.
Taylor's court-appointed lawyer, Don Duesler, declined to comment on the pregnancy issue. Taylor remains in jail in Beaumont. Authorities say she has at least eight aliases.
Privacy laws prevent officials from releasing medical records.
Hart said "we have been told" that she hadn't received a pregnancy test.
