FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Federal marshals say a fugitive convicted of fatally beating his 12-week-old daughter has been captured in Tarrant County.
Benjamin Pingle of Castle Rock, Wash., had been sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison for manslaughter and assault in the death of his daughter, Justice Pingle.
But he vanished from Washington state last May while free on bond pending his appeal. He was featured on a July 11 segment of the television program "America's Most Wanted."
U.S. Marshal's Service spokesman Trent Touchstone tells the Fort Worth Star Telegram that Pingle was arrested without incident in the Fort Worth area late Thursday. The 26-year-old fugitive is now in the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth awaiting extradition to Washington.
