Teacher killed in stabbing at high school in Tyler

TYLER, Texas (AP) - Tyler police say a stabbing today at John Tyler High School in Tyler has left a teacher dead.

Police spokesman Officer Don Martin confirmed a male teacher was dead and a juvenile was taken into custody after Wednesday morning's attack. Further details were not immediately released.

Martin said a stabbing was reported around 9 a.m. Wednesday and that Tyler police were assisting school police.

Martin referred questions to Angela Jenkins, a spokeswoman for John Tyler High School. Jenkins did not immediately return messages left by The Associated Press.
