PORT ARTHUR, Texas (AP) - Port Arthur police say a 17-year-old has been arrested after a shot fired through an apartment wall injured a 3-year-old girl.
After discovering that the child had been shot Sunday night, police knocked on the door of an adjacent apartment to see if there were any victims there. There was no answer, so they forced their way in, finding the teen in a closet.
Authorities said they found a high-powered rifle investigators believe was used in the shooting, as well as a sawed off shotgun.
The teen is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The child is in stable condition with a foot wound.
