Texas officials discuss water shortage

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - The Texas population continues to grow
rapidly, and the state's water supply continues to shrink.

Just what to do about that problem is the focus of lawmakers and experts during a water conference starting Monday in Fort Worth.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, key lawmakers and water experts are gathering to raise awareness about the shortage and the importance
of investing in the state water plan.

Texas Water Development Board projections show that, as early as 2060, 85 percent of Texans won't have enough water during times of
drought.

The meeting comes on the heels of a brutal two-year drought period that forced cities around the state to restrict water usage.
