KIRBYVILLE, Texas (AP) - At least three suspects are sought after an apparent drug-related slaying at a motel in Kirbyville.
Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman on Monday said that the shooting victim, whose body crashed through a window, had his hands bound with duct tape.
Newman says the shooting Sunday afternoon at the Gateway Inn Motel happened during a suspected drug deal. Newman identified the victim as 28-year-old Juan Palomo of Newton County.
Newman says three suspects are sought, although a fourth person might have been involved as the driver.
Newman says he believes the suspects have fled from Kirbyville, a town of about 2,000 located 125 miles northeast of Houston.
