No injuries after state capitol gunfire

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - There are no reports of any injuries, after a man with a handgun fired several shots today on the south steps of the Texas State Capitol in Austin.

Authorities say the man was quickly tackled by state troopers.

As a precaution, the Capitol was placed on lockdown as officials conducted a search.

After the shots rang out, officers with rifles quickly swarmed the scene.

Gov. Rick Perry's office says he wasn't in the building at the time. Many lawmakers were away from Austin because the legislature wasn't in session.
