HOUSTON (AP) - Five Texas inmates who failed in their escape attempt that left three shot will be heading for different prisons.
Prison system officials say Friday's attempted breakout from the maximum security Polunsky Unit remains under investigation as the inmates are separated.
Prison spokesman Jason Clark on Monday told the Houston Chronicle that no escape attempt from the unit near Livingston has been successful.
The three prisoners who were shot were treated and later released.
Clark says all five inmates suffered cuts from razor wire atop an interior fence. All will face felony attempted escape charges.
