GAS EXPLOSION-LAWSUIT
Company sues over Bushland explosion

AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - El Paso Natural Gas has gone to court
seeking to relocate a line around a Bushland neighborhood where an
explosion left three people hurt.
The Amarillo Globe-News reported Thursday that the Houston-based
company seeks the right of way to bury a new natural gas pipeline
near where the fiery rupture happened Nov. 5.
The company in December announced plans to reroute the pipeline
more than 600 feet west of the neighborhood where the accident
happened.
The condemnation lawsuit, filed March 25 in federal court in
Amarillo, says at least one landowner is unwilling to let the
pipeline run through the family's land.
El Paso spokesman Richard Wheatley on Wednesday said the company
has tried to reach a fair, amicable agreement with landowners.
Bushland is a town of about 1,500, located 15 miles west of
Amarillo.
