Barefoot suspect buys shoes, caught in Houston
HOUSTON (AP) - A barefoot man accused of killing his girlfriend
in Aransas (uh-RAN'-zuhs) Pass allegedly stopped to buy shoes
before getting caught in Houston.
Jose Francisco Guillen of Port Aransas was held Friday on a
murder charge. Bail was $100,000. Harris County Jail electronic
records did not list an attorney for Guillen.
Capt. Roberto Gonzales Jr. says Guillen and several others were
grilling out and drinking beer Wednesday night when an argument
Guillen is accused of fatally shooting Lanae Wesner of Kerrville
and wounding four other people, taking a taxi, stopping to buy
shoes, then heading for Corpus Christi International Airport.
The cabbie contacted police about the passenger who said he
wanted the first plane to California. Guillen was arrested Thursday
at Houston's Hobby Airport.
