2 Briscoe Unit escapees still at large

DILLEY, Texas (AP) - Texas prison authorities have opened an
internal investigation after two inmates fled by cutting a fence at
the Briscoe Unit in Frio County.
Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokeswoman Michelle Lyons
said Friday that both Mexican nationals were still on the loose and
the search continues.
Jose Bustos-Diaz and Octavio Ramos Lopez turned up missing
Tuesday morning after they apparently crawled through a ventilation
fan in the prison's furniture factory.
TDCJ Inspector General John Moriarty says so far there is no
indication of collusion by any prison employees. He says officials
are trying to "build a case against anyone that's helped them"
from the outside.
Bustos-Diaz was serving 35 years for murder in Harris County.
Lopez was convicted in Hidalgo County, serving 20 years for
aggravated kidnapping and 12 years for drug counts.
