2 Texas prison escapees still on the lam

DILLEY, Texas (AP) - Two escapees from the Briscoe Unit were
still on the run nearly a week after slipping through a cut fence.
Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokeswoman Michelle Lyons
says the search continued Monday for Jose Bustos-Diaz and Octavio
Ramos Lopez.
Visitors were barred over the weekend at the unit near Dilley,
about 75 miles from the border with Mexico.
The two Mexican nationals turned up missing April 6 after
apparently crawling through a ventilation fan in the prison's
furniture factory, where both worked.
Lopez, who was convicted in Hidalgo County, was serving 20 years
for aggravated kidnapping and 12 years for cocaine-related
convictions. Bustos-Diaz was serving 35 years for murder in Harris
County.
