TEMPLE, Texas (AP) - A Central Texas man has been charged with killing his wife after a trail of bloody items led police to the suspect hiding near a road.
Bell County jail records show 57-year-old Royce Reeves of Temple was being held Wednesday on a murder charge. Bond was set at $1.2 million for Reeves, who was captured Tuesday in a tunnel under a roadway.
Temple police earlier Tuesday responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex and saw the body of 35-year-old Autumn Alaine Reeves in a front room. Investigators say the woman apparently was stabbed.
Officers located several bloody items marking a trail to a drainage ditch and the suspect. Officers recovered a knife allegedly used in the slaying.
Autopsy results are pending.
No attorney was listed for Reeves.
