BRYAN, Texas (AP) - A Bryan man who pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery for his role in the slaying of a teen shot in the eye has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Forty-year-old Eugene Lamar Jenkins was sentenced Thursday after entering the plea in July. Co-defendant Clifton Dean Montgomery was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of capital murder in August in the death of 18-year-old Raymond Cavazos.
Cavazos was killed instantly after being shot at his Bryan home in 2011. He was then robbed of his drugs, gun and money.
Prosecutors say Cavazos was a known drug dealer.
The Bryan-College Station Eagle reports Jenkins was originally indicted for capital murder but was convicted of the lesser offense of aggravated robbery as part of a plea agreement.
