FULSHEAR, Texas (AP) - Police say a rancher checking his property near Houston has found the burned body of an unidentified woman.

Fulshear police Chief Kenny Seymour on Monday night announced discovery of the body. Seymour says a rancher located the remains around midmorning Monday in a rural area.

Seymour says medical examiners in Galveston County are attempting to identify the victim.

Further details weren't immediately released.

Fulshear is a town of about 1,100 located 30 miles west of Houston.
