SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas will speak at a Utah fundraiser next week for U.S. Senator Mike Lee of Utah.
Lee spokesman Brian Phillips told the Deseret News that the $2,000-a-head event will be held Friday.
Phillips says Cruz and Lee will meet with Governor Gary Herbert to discuss the issue of federalism and how states can work with the federal government.
Lee was an early supporter of Cruz, who was elected last year.
Among other things, the two tea party champions are trying to halt funding for the federal health care law.
Cruz also made headlines this past week for telling a talk radio host that possible American military strikes on Syria would be the U.S. "acting as Al-Qaeda's air force".
