DALLAS (AP) - The $30 million Summer Adventures in Fair Park has ended after just one season due to low attendance.
Officials with the theme park associated with the State Fair of Texas on Tuesday said the summer event won't return during 2014.
The pay-to-attend tourist attraction opened last May featuring rides, amusement games and museums that are permanently located at the 277-acre park. Officials with the State Fair of Texas had promoted the summer expo as another offseason use of the fairgrounds.
State Fair spokeswoman Sue Gooding says attendance numbers for the summer event were not what backers hoped. She didn't immediately release details on how many people attended the inaugural Summer Adventures in Fair Park.
The 2014 State Fair of Texas runs Sept. 26 through Oct. 19.
