HOUSTON (AP) - Houston police say a driver has been killed after his car hit a firetruck that was returning to a station following a call.
Police on Monday said the identity of the 21-year-old victim has not yet been released.
Police say a Houston Fire Department pumper truck was backing into a station around 4 a.m. Sunday. The firetruck's flashing red lights were on.
A witness who had stopped her vehicle to make way for the firetruck saw an approaching car hit the left side of the firetruck. Police say evidence at the scene indicated the driver of the speeding car made no attempt to slow down or stop. The driver died at the scene.
Nobody on the firetruck was hurt.
