SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A former Bexar County sheriff's deputy who was driving drunk when he hit another car head-on in a wrong-way crash has received probation for intoxication assault.
The San Antonio Express-News reports that a judge on Monday gave 32-year-old Trenton Wade two years of probation, a $1,500 fine, 60 days with an electronic monitoring device and 200 hours of community service.
Wade crashed into Kevin Gardner's vehicle head-on in April 2012.
Gardner's vehicle rolled multiple times after the collision and he was hospitalized with three broken ribs, a broken foot and a broken vertebra in his neck. Wade suffered no injuries.
Wade had been hired by the Bexar County Adult Detention Centers in 2007. He no long works there.
