WACO, Texas (AP) - A former Central Texas judge has been sentenced to three years of probation in a records and mileage reimbursement scam.

A judge in Waco on Monday also ordered Jean Laster Boone to pay $6,120 in fines and restitution and do 300 hours of community service. The ex-justice of the peace in McLennan County in October pleading guilty to two felony counts of records tampering.

Prosecutors say Laster Boone, who'd been a JP since 1999, submitted falsified mileage reimbursement forms to collect the maximum $360 per month allowed by the county. The payments are for per-mile reimbursement for using personal vehicles for county business.

The investigation began last summer when some employees reported Laster Boone told them to falsify mileage documents. She was arrested in September and resigned the following month.
