LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - A now-former youth minister in West Texas faces up to 10 years in prison for sexually explicit online contact with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl.
Prosecutors in Lubbock say 25-year-old Trevor Jacob Fortner pleaded guilty Friday to attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor in a plea deal.
The Lubbock man was a youth minister at First Street Baptist Church in Levelland when he was arrested in May on a charge of attempted enticement of a minor. A Lubbock officer portrayed the teen. Prosecutors say Fortner sent a sexually explicit photo of himself.
Court documents in the plea agreement indicate prosecutors will recommend Fortner serve four years in prison.
Fortner also worked at First Baptist Church in Lubbock.
