AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Visitors to the Texas state archives building in Austin starting next week will be able to see the clothing former Gov. John Connally was wearing when he was shot in the gunfire that also killed President John Kennedy.

The black suit with bullet holes and blood-stained white shirt Connally wore Nov. 22, 1963, will be the centerpiece of an exhibit to mark the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination.

Connally's wife had the suit cleaned before it was presented in 1964 to the state archives. But the shirt still bears the stains of Connally's blood when he was shot while riding in the open convertible limousine with his wife, the president and Jacqueline Kennedy.

Connally survived a serious chest wound. He died in 1993.
