FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Gun sales are booming across Texas, and some buyers say their growing belief that President Barack Obama's re-election is inevitable is fueling their race to bear more arms.

Fort Worth gun shop owner DeWayne Irwin tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram ( that the rush is similar to one seen shortly after the president's 2008 election.

Book author Alan Korwin tells the Star-Telegram that some are worried that Obama's re-election would embolden a major gun control push. Korwin has written nine books on gun laws and operates a gun laws website.

Korwin says people worry that if Obama wins "he will go after firearms in a way we have never seen before."

Can't believe folks around here actually have figured out Obama is going to be re-elected. Instead of being bewildered when he won last time with one of the biggest margins of victory in a long time. It gives me hope. Sorry about using the word hope I'm aware thats one of obama's last campagn slogans.

I remember hearing Obama is going to take our guns away, then someone started screaming they're going to put microchips in the ammo so they know who owns it, Next was FEMA concentration camps, Then it was nazi youth patrol.........I did not vote for this administration but I have laughed at how it has benifited the NRA and all the gun toting doomsday doers. I wouldn't doubt it if gun manufacturers donate to his re-election. What in the world are you going to do with 50,000 bullets and 5 AK-47's? I'm good with my couple of arms (the same ones I owned before 2008) and several boxes of ammo. LMAO!!!

Look out! All this gun buying could be good for the economy, and the last thing any self respecting conservative wants to do right now is something that might help the economy. This could actually help Obama get re-elected! You could actually be contributing to his grand plan to send out his storm troopers to not only take away the guns you already own, but also the new guns you buy between now and November! The best thing you could do is to drive more and hand more money over to the oil companies. The increased demand will push gas prices even higher, and Obama will get blamed for it! Better still, the oil companies will have even more $ to spend to help defeat Obama. And if you defeat Obama, you won't need the extra guns. In fact, you'll be able to sell your guns so you'll have even more money to buy gas which will help the struggling oil companies through these very difficult times they are going through. I mean, buying elections and votes in Congress is expensive stuff.

Gun enthusiasts aren't oppressed and won't be any time soon. If you want to know oppression in this country, try being an Atheist or a pot smoker. Both can preclude you from getting a job or being accepted as a productive member of this society.

So I guess, even this early on, that it's a foregone conclusion that Obama is going to get re-elected? Boy, you guys sure do give up easy.

Even if they take away our rights to bear arms and even if the gov comes to my house and tries getting me to hand my guns over to them, Well it wont happen. I will not go down easy if it come to them coming to my house bc i will feel threatened and have private property and will protect myself which i have the right to do idc if its cops or not... Another thing is even if they do take away our rights to purchase guns everyone including i will just go to buying guns off the streets and from flea markets and things like that so it will not stop or prevent anything, it will actually probably just start a huge war between citizens and the gov. Hands down i will always have guns to protect myself for the rest of my life.

Don't really see them in the streets demanding gun rights either. I know its hard to believe, but not everyone in the world thinks like Americans and feels a need to be armed. Don't get me wrong I own 4 guns. But I was born in Texas...its part of the culture. Guns are not part of the English culture. Heck you have the internet go find a British Chat site and talk to them about it! You'll see...

Amazing there are so many people stupid enough to think Obama, or anyone in the government is going to come to your house and take away your guns. But it is funny how all these nut-jobs are making gun & ammo prices skyrocket AGAIN before an election. The NRA has you morons right where thy want you. Scared, stupid and sending your money to them to scare you some more. LOL!!!
