AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The Texas House has given final approval to proposed laws to limit abortions, provide funding for transportation projects and authorize new sentences for 17-year-olds convicted of capital murder.

Monday's votes ended the lower chamber's role in the 30-day special session. The Senate has already sent redistricting maps to the governor for his signature, but must still vote on the abortion and transportation bills by midnight Tuesday.

House Republicans approved a proposed constitutional amendment to divert money away from the state's rainy day fund for roads and bridges. They also added a new sentencing option for 17-year-olds who commit murder along with another felony: life in prison with the possibility of parole in 40 years.

The abortion bill would limit when, where and how women may obtain an abortion in Texas.
