BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A drug runner from Mexico has been sentenced to nearly 18 years in prison in a Texas case involving more than 500 pounds of cocaine trucked to New York City.
A federal judge in Brownsville on Tuesday sentenced 55-year-old Juan Becerra Vallejo.
Prosecutors say Vallejo, who'd been living in Weslaco, was indicted in 2009 and arrested in October 2011. Vallejo in March 2012 pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
He must serve 210 months in prison in the investigation going back to 2005.
