DALLAS (AP) - A Dallas-area bank robber whose demands for cash were written on a checkbook registry and flashed to tellers has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.

A federal judge in Dallas on Wednesday sentenced 43-year-old Victor Lemond Williams.

Prosecutors say the Dallas man pleaded guilty to an indictment charging five counts of bank robbery in 2011 and 2012 holdups in DeSoto.

Williams, who was dubbed the "checkbook bandit" by the FBI, has been in custody since his January 2012 arrest. He must serve 90 months in federal prison.
