Plano Explosion

PLANO, Texas (AP) - A utility official says the FBI is investigating whether a Dallas-area gas line was tampered with before a man was hurt in an explosion.

Atmos Energy spokeswoman Jennifer Ryan said Tuesday that Plano police around 1 a.m. Monday asked the utility to check for a gas leak.

Police minutes earlier responded to 911 calls about an explosion and located an injured man.

Officer David Tilley says the man apparently was carrying a device when it exploded. Further details on the hospitalized man haven't been released.

Ryan declined to say whether the gas line was damaged. Atmos previously said investigators were looking into what may have caused a leak.

Bomb squads Tuesday searched a Plano home. The FBI says no one has been arrested and declined to release further details.
