MADISONVILLE, Texas (AP) - Police in an East Texas town say they have apprehended all but one of the 11 suspects in an alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Madisonville Police Chief Chuck May says officers have arrested nearly all those accused of perpetrating the March attack on the girl inside a trailer. They are charged with trafficking of a person and sexual assault.
May says the girl was given methamphetamine then assaulted by several of the people charged.
He calls the incident a "hideous crime."
Attorneys were not immediately listed for the defendants.
He says police needed almost three months to collect evidence and confirm that the girl's testimony was credible.
