ALPINE, Texas (AP) - The president of Sul Ross State University and Rio Grande College has resigned and will be a special assistant to the chancellor of the Texas State University System.
Chancellor Brian McCall on Monday announced the resignation of Ricardo Maestas. He's led Sul Ross State since November 2009.
Quint Thurman, who's provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Sul Ross State in Alpine, will serve as interim president.
Administrators will meet with members of the community and others interested in Sul Ross State to get input amid the search for a new president.
