BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - Derogatory comments a federal prosecutor in Southeast Texas posted online about President Barack Obama and Trayvon Martin are being reviewed by his supervisors.
The Beaumont Enterprise reports John Craft, an attorney in the criminal division for the Eastern District of Texas, wrote on a private Facebook page that "low information voters" helped get Obama re-elected.
He also commented on the fatal shooting of Martin, suggesting the teenager had ulterior motives for being in the Florida neighborhood where he was killed by George Zimmerman.
Craft told the newspaper his statements "were not related to the U.S. attorney's office" and declined further comment.
John Malcolm Bales, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District, said he will "look into" Craft's comments. He would not say whether Craft could face disciplinary action.
