San Antonio ISD superintendent to resign

SAN ANTONIO,TX. (AP) - The superintendent of the San Antonio Independent School District has announced his resignation in an agreement with trustees.

Robert Duron made the announcement Monday night during a board meeting. He received a negative evaluation nearly a year ago.

His superintendent's contract runs through mid-2013. Duron has an agreement with the district to remain until next Feb. 15, working as executive director of planning for bond elections. He'll keep making his current salary of more than $266,000.

Duron, who has been superintendent since July 2006, says he'll formally resign the job when an interim replacement is hired.

Board members say they hope to have a new superintendent in place by this summer.
