BROWNSVILLE, TX. (AP) - A Brownsville teenager accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in 2010 has pleaded guilty to murder.
Javier de la Rosa Jr. was indicted by a Cameron County grand jury for capital murder in January 2011, five months after the body of 17-year-old Tiffany Galvan was found near a park.
De la Rosa was a football player at Brownsville's Lopez High School.
The Brownsville Herald reported Thursday that de la Rosa admitted to state District Judge Benjamin Euresti Jr. that he stabbed Galvan multiple times. The teens had met on a social networking site and split up about three weeks before Galvan's murder.
De la Rosa was a minor at the time of the attack, but a judge ruled that he would be tried as an adult.
