TROY, Texas (AP) - Several middle school football players and two coaches have been treated and released from Central Texas hospitals after their school bus collided with an 18-wheeler.

Troy police Chief Keith Reed said Friday that 11 players were treated at Temple hospitals along with the two coaches. The most seriously injured was the coach driving the bus when it was struck about 9 p.m. Thursday as it was returning to school from an eighth-grade game. Reed says the coach suffered fractured ribs and other injuries.

The bus was proceeding through a four-way stop when it was struck. The truck driver, who was not hurt, was cited for disregarding flashing red lights in an intersection.

Reed says the severity of the injuries was minimized by a 30 mph speed limit in the area.
