ORANGE, Texas (AP) - A Southeast Texas woman has been charged with the fatal shooting of her daughter's boyfriend during an argument that turned physical.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office on Thursday announced 58-year-old Julia Rhoton Andrews of Vidor (VY'-dur) was being held on a murder charge. Bond was set at $250,000.
Sgt. Chad Hogan says officers Wednesday night received a call about a disturbance at a home in Vidor. Hogan says the caller then reported hearing gunfire outside. The body of 42-year-old Randy Peddy was found in the yard.
Hogan says Andrews told investigators that she and Peddy had a verbal and physical altercation before he was shot. Officials did not immediately release further details on the suspect's daughter or who called for help.
Jail records did not list an attorney for Andrews.
