NORTH ZULCH, Texas (AP) - A truck hauling live chickens and a freight train have collided in a Central Texas wreck that left the driver hurt and several cars derailed.
Emergency management officials in Madison County say the accident happened Monday night in a rural area near North Zulch, about 120 miles northeast of Austin. Officials say two engines and seven cars derailed on the BNSF Railway Co. line.
Investigators say the train and a Sanderson Farms truck collided at an intersection. The driver was in stable condition when he was transported to a hospital. His name, further details on his condition and the status of the load weren't immediately provided Tuesday by the Mississippi-based company.
A spokesman with the Fort Worth-based railroad didn't immediately return messages.
Live chickens were scattered at the scene.
