MIDLAND, Texas (AP) - A tractor-trailer stuck on tracks in West Texas was struck by a train that dragged it a half-mile before coming to a stop.
The driver of the rig had exited the tractor minutes before the train struck Wednesday morning in Midland and no injuries were reported. Dramatic footage of the wreck shows items on the flatbed trailer tossed high into the air as the intersection is enveloped in a cloud of dirt. The rig wrapped around the front of the train as it was dragged down the tracks, which are operated by Union Pacific.
Kelly Blay of Abilene used his cellphone to record the accident and says the trailer became lodged at a high point in the intersection. He says the train "moaned and groaned" as it attempted to stop.
