GOP candidate Ron Paul holds town hall in Detroit

DETROIT, MI. (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul said after a campaign event in Detroit that his goal is to continue to earn delegates in non-winner-take-all states such as Michigan, which holds its primary on Tuesday.

The Texas congressman spoke to supporters and a group of local schoolchildren at Little Rock Baptist Church for about 45 minutes on Monday. Afterward, during a question-and-answer session with reporters, Paul was asked about his campaign strategy.

He said his plan is to "whittle away" by picking up delegates along the way and has plans to head to Washington state and Alaska in the near future.

Paul hasn't won any states early in the primary season, but the idea is to amass delegates and earn a significant role in the Republican Party's national convention this summer.
