CANTON, Texas (AP) - An East Texas courthouse will be closed after a weekend water leak caused flooding.
The Tyler Morning Telegraph reports that the Van Zandt County Courthouse in Canton will be closed Monday after a water line broke over the weekend.
County Judge Rhita Koches says that on Sunday afternoon, about three inches of water stood in some of the offices, and several feet of water flooded the inside the elevator shaft and the building's boiler room.
Water was shut off to the building while repairs were being made so the county decided to close for the day.
Koches says the courthouse is expected open on Tuesday, but it depends on the severity of the damage.
Canton is located about 60 miles southeast of Dallas.
