OOLOGAH, Okla. (AP) - State health officials say a meningococcal
vaccine clinic set up for students and employees in the
Oologah-Talala school district has been canceled because of a
possible snowstorm.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health said the vaccine would
be administered at a clinic until 7 p.m. Friday, but the one set
for Saturday won't be open.
Dr. Kristy Bradley, the state epidemiologist, says 461 doses of
vaccine were distributed in the first hour of Friday's clinic.
Health officials set up the clinics after seven children
contracted the disease. Two of the children have died.
Officials say a public health nurse will be available from March
22 through March 26 at the Omni Medical Clinic in Oologah to
administer vaccine to those who haven't received it.
