OKLAHOMA CITY,OK (AP) - An Oklahoma appeals court has upheld the life in prison sentence of a man convicted of two counts of first-degree murder.

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals ruled Monday in the case of 30-year-old Jarmal Walker.

An Oklahoma County jury convicted Walker of the Oct. 20, 2008, deaths of 37-year-old Corey Brown and 34-year-old Shannon Brown. The victims were fatally shot in northeast Oklahoma City.

In his appeal, Walker argued he was denied a fair trial and asked that his consecutive life sentences be modified so he can serve them at the same time. But the court refused to overturn the convictions or alter the sentences.

Walker's attorney, Janet Davis of the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System, declined to comment on the decision.
