OKLAHOMA CITY,OK (AP) - Police say a 21-year-old Southern Nazarene University student was stabbed when he was taking food to the homeless.

The Oklahoman reports that the stabbing happened Saturday afternoon near Lake Overholser. Police say the student was with other students ministering and taking food to homeless people when they encountered a man on the west side of the lake.

Police say the student placed food on the ground near the man and that the man then struck the student in the head and stabbed him several times.

The student was taken to OU Medical Center where he was treated for wounds. Authorities have not yet located the man responsible for the stabbing.
