Apple Pork Chops
This week's column is an answer to a reader. He wanted to know how to make a sauce for pork chops. So I played around in the kitchen for a while this past week and came up with this recipe. Enjoy!
Video will be available shortly.
Ingredients
- 4 pork chops
- 2 TBS. butter
- 1 TBS. extra virgin olive oil
- 1 large red apple, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 2 TBS. brown sugar
- *1 poblano pepper, chopped if you want the sweet-hot combination
Directions
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter with olive oil. Add apple and brown sugar stirring constantly. When mixture starts to boil, add wine. Lower heat and simmer until thickened. Stir occasionally for about five minutes. Spoon sauce over grilled pork chops.
Tip of the Week: When cooking with butter, always use a little extra virgin olive oil. This keeps the butter from burning.
