Remove stems from mushroom caps. Dice stems and set aside caps. Melt butter in saucepan on medium heat and add diced stems, onions, garlic, parsley, salt and oregano. If you’ve chosen to add the meat – add it here. Cook together until onion is tender (about 5 minutes). Stir in bread crumbs and cheese. Fill mushroom caps, stuffed sides up, onto a large flat pan or dish. Broil 5 to 6 inches from heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until mushrooms are tender.
