Tuesday's winds just out of our area are causing some concern, and fire departments are on alert as wind advisories will be hitting Texoma on Wednesday.

Strong winds on days like this can be busy ones for firefighters. Officials warn especially of the dangers of throwing out cigarettes and not lighting other kinds of fires.

Fire authorities say recent events like this in Bokchito, Oklahoma, and Tarrant County, Texas, should be lessons to try to prevent future outbreaks.

A large portion of these fires are preventable. Strong winds can also present problems for people on the road.

Police say to make sure you put extra distance between you and other vehicles to stay safe.

Why does the news bring up stuff like this, it just makes these idiots that start the fires want to start them and to see what happens, and then the next thing you know something really happens bad
