LONE GROVE, Okla. -- You can see folks in several communities including Lone Grove voting on school bond issues Tuesday. Robin Beal spent the day there to find out what the proposed improvements would be and what people think about them.

It is not the first time the voters of lone grove have been asked to approve a school bond. In fact, Tuesday’s vote is actually a continuation of the measure approved four years ago. It is up to voters to decide if phase two will get the green light.

Lone grove intermediate school is the building that has been around much longer than its students and even some staff. The principal says the hallways that have seen so much are now starting to feel the growing pains.

If Phase 2 is approved by voters on Tuesday, almost $10 million will be spent over the next nine years improving the cafeteria and building new classrooms.

School officials say they are optimistic the measure will pass. It was hard to find opposition in the community on Monday, since no new taxes are anticipated, people have already been paying for phase one since 2004.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. If you live in the Lone Grove School District, just go to your regular polling place to cast a ballot. Sixty percent of Tuesday’s votes must be for the issue if it is to pass.
