SHERMAN, Tex. -- At least two Sherman schools have been hit by thieves this summer. After Sory Elementary School was targeted earlier this summer, now Texoma Christian School has also been hit by copper wire thieves.

In both cases, the burglars were after copper wire. Someone damaged eight air conditioning units at TCS, two of which had the copper wire stolen. Six other units had Freon drained. The suspects also broke out two of the building panels to get under the portable buildings to get even more copper wire.

No word on how much it will cost the school to get it all repaired before classes resume next month.

Investigators are hopeful that surveillance video will lead to an arrest.

Big part of the copper theft problem is greed on the part of the purchaser. They don't give a crap where it comes from, in fact, they would rather buy from the junkies, because they will take any amount they can get. Make the purchasers face jail time for buying obviously stolen wire or catalytic converters. Buying stolen goods is still a crime...isn't it?
