DENISON, Tex. -- It is just a little over a week until Denison Independent School District schools begin classes, but new teachers are already preparing. Forty-nine new teachers were recognized at a Denison ISD luncheon on Thursday.
The Denison Chamber of Commerce sponsored the lunch to let the teachers meet other sponsors and member of the community.
The chamber president says that this is an opportunity for new teachers to get to feel comfortable and know that there are people in the community that are interested them being successful.
"We are just renewing our commitment to making sure that all our students learn and doing whatever it takes to make sure they learn," Denison ISD assistant superintendent George Hatfield says.
Classes start August 25 for Denison ISD schools.
