Southeastern has a new starting quarterback. Ray Richards named Brandon McCain the starter just nine days before the opener.

McCain is a fifth year senior at Southeastern, and had been competing against all Freshmen for the job. Richards confirmed that he would be the starter as the team goes into Tarleton on August 28th to open the season.

"Brandon is probably the smartest quarterback I've ever been around in 25 years of coaching," Richards said. "He understands our offense and can get us into the right play. He knows where to throw the football. If Brandon makes good decisions good things will happen."

McCain completed 8 out of 11 passes in the most recent Storm scrimmage. The starting quarterback position became up for grabs after Justin Pitrucha was dismissed from the team. Pitrucha was charged with drug possession that ended with him pleading out to a misdemeanor in court.
