Tarleton hammers SOSU in Opener 51-10 Save Email Print

The Tarleton Texans scored the final 41 points of the season opener Thursday to take a 51-10 victory from Southeastern Oklahoma in Stephenville.

The Texans scored 27 unanswered points in the second half to improve to 7-2 in home openers since 2000.

Nine different people carried the ball for the Texans while four different runners crossed the goal line for the purple and white. Scott Grantham was seven of 17 passing for 148 yards and one touchdown to lead Tarleton to the victory.

The Texans gained 373 yards while holding SOSU to 188 yards, including 46 yards on the ground.

Tarleton will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 6 at home against Northeastern State at 7 p.m. while the Savage Storm will travel to Midwestern State for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Wichita Falls.
