East Central University received 15 kills out of Jacqueline Sparks and 34 assists from Holly Hicks, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Southeastern Oklahoma State as the Savage Storm beat the Lady Tigers 3-1 in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday night at the Kerr Center.

SOSU took the first two sets by close 25-23 and 26-24 counts before ECU claimed the third set, 25-23. The Savage Storm then won set four by a 25-22 score.

Katy Fields also recorded 11 kills for ECU, which dropped to 5-11 overall. Hicks was credited with five kills on a perfect five dumps for a 1.000 attack percentage.

SOSU, which improved to 11-8, received 47 assists from Lindsay Ellisor. Lunden Azaura finished with 19 kills and Destiny Brown added 12 for the visitors.

The Lady Tigers’ next action is Friday and Saturday in the Washburn University Tournament in Topeka, Kan. ECU faces host Washburn at 11:30 a.m. and Missouri Western State at 7 p.m. on Friday, before taking on Truman State (Mo.) at 9 a.m. and Fort Hays State (Kan.) at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The next home action for the Lady Tigers will be Lone Star Conference play on Thursday, Oct.9 against Midwestern State at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 11 against Cameron at 2 p.m.
